After spending thirteen rewarding years in the coffee industry, I came to realize that I had other talents and passions to explore. During my corporate career I enjoyed coaching and motivating people and watching each individual and the team as a whole succeed. I also spent many lunch hours taking yoga and conditioning classes and discussing healthy living with co-workers.
I feel most alive, rejuvenated and present when I am physically active. I have always loved to physically challenge myself! Whether in team sports, group exercise classes, hiking and other outdoor recreation, I am drawn to the physical and mental challenges of fitness that boost my health and outlook on life.
In 2008 I set out to make a career change in fitness. I earned my certification in Group Exercise through Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA) and began teaching resistance and cardio conditioning classes at local gyms. In May 2009 I began teaching classes regularly at Ballard Health Club (BHC) and have been teaching classes there ever since! Currently I teach Functional Strength Training, Metabolic Conditioning and Boot Camp.
In the summer of 2010 I taught my first outdoor boot camp and fell in love with the combination of exercising outside and working with a group of people, a team! It was fun, invigorating and rewarding! In the same year I earned my certification in Personal Training through World Instructor Training Schools (WITS) and began training members at BHC with the goal to help guide people toward success in their pursuit of a fit and healthy lifestyle.
In 2011 I independently led an outdoor boot camp at the Ballard Community Center, and 2012 is when I opened my own personal fitness studio (just one block west of the community center) where clients can enjoy the benefits of resistance training indoors and calisthenics outdoors!
I look forward to building and nourishing relationships with clients and helping them bring more vitality, contentment and empowerment into their lives.
